Sustainability
The Earth is calling. There’s not much time. We must make the most of it to save what we have while we can“
We believe in the value of diversity and the power of inclusion. Different perspectives fuel our organisation.

Sustainability at BIP
At BIP we promote sustainability by taking the several economic, environmental and social aspects into consideration. We integrate its principles into our governance and aim to build sustainable and inclusive economic growth to enhance available resources and preserve them for the future.
To do this, we guide strategic choices by looking for a constant balance between economic drivers and the socio-environmental impacts of our business.
BIP Sustainability Program
In 2020 we launched the BIP Sustainability Program, a path made of wishes, actions and activities we want to implement to improve performance in both environmental and social sustainability field, in the medium and long term.
Our goals
Improve BIP's sustainability performance through increasing attention to socio-environmental impacts and related risks. Ensure measurability, transparency and reliability of information shared with stakeholders
The 6 Sustainability pillars
Ethics and integrity
Commitment to conduct business activities in accordance with the highest ethical standards, not tolerating acts of corruption and operating in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Employees worth
Enhancement of human resources, ensuring a safe and inclusive work environment. Strong commitment to the development of skills and competencies, ensuring that the recruitment, training and professional growth of resources are based on merit, fighting any form of discrimination.
Customer centricity
Creation of value for customers by ensuring high quality standards, easy access to services, safety and efficiency. Particular attention is paid to the establishment of solid relationships, based on trust and on the ability to offer methodological approaches and effective and concrete solutions.
Innovation
Promotion of innovation, both internally and externally, with the intention of being an ‘enabler of change’, in the belief that an improvement in sustainability performance is possible thanks to our ability to change, innovating together with the different players in the economic system.
Environmental commitment
Integration of environmental aspects within business processes, in order to correctly manage resource consumption, promoting the reduction of direct and indirect environmental impacts and favouring sustainable procurement policies for products and services.
Community support
Support for the community through financial aid and active participation in deserving charity, research and volunteering initiatives, to encourage their growth and development.
Joining the United Nations Global Compact
Since 2021, we have strengthened our commitment by joining the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), an initiative that encourages companies around the world to adopt sustainable policies - in compliance with corporate social responsibility- and to make the results of the actions undertaken public.
This is an important step we wanted to take. It’s a formal committment to share, support and apply a set of fundamental principles in our sphere of influence, from human rights to labor standards, from environmental protection to the fight against corruption.
We are inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals
To integrate the principles of Sustainability within our strategy, we draw inspiration by the Sustainable Development Goals (“SDG”) – as defined by the 2030 Agenda signed in 2015 by 193 United Nations countries, Italy included.
So far, we have identified 8 out of 17 Sustainable Development Goals on which to focus our efforts.
Summary
At BIP we promote sustainability by taking the several economic, environmental and social aspects into consideration. We integrate its principles into our governance and aim to build sustainable and inclusive economic growth to enhance available resources and preserve them for the future.
