The client was looking to increase transparency of pricing policies and actual prices across its product portfolio and markets of operation. For this to be achieved, C-suite executives asked for a live, interactive reporting dashboard to be created, accessible from all mobile devices. Data fragmentation, data quality as well as lack of dedicated permanent client resources posed a significant challenge for BIP’s team, especially due to the high visibility of the project to senior client stakeholders.

Approach:
BIP’s team of experienced consultants started by creating a detailed map of all the business and technical requirements from stakeholders. Due to the limited time available with senior stakeholders, our consultants decided to host short frequent workshops and produce mock-ups [with real data] of the expected graphs and illustrations. At the same time, our team liaised with owners and administrators of data repositories across the organisation to understand the quality of data and the options available for integration with the client’s chosen reporting platform.
Once the requirements were finalised and data sources were established, our team created a business rules catalogue to help the client’s developer team navigate the dashboard’s complex requirements and data transformation needs. Dashboard development was organised into three iterations to enable stakeholders to perform several rounds of UAT and feedback, as well as allow our client to illustrate quick and dependable results.

Our diverse team of management consultants collaborated with the client to create a detailed design document, data model, data source mapping and data dictionary. Once that was completed, out team handed the process over to the client developers. BIP’s contribution to the project enabled development of the reporting dashboard to start sooner and helped increase data reliability. We were able to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the data team by producing a complex reporting dashboard built to the high standard expected by C-suite executives.
